A friend wanted to gift my daughter a silicone feeding set, and asked what to engrave on it. I gave him her name, Linamii. In full it is LinamiiZulu, which means God is with me. When he sent the photos of that finished gift, something settled in me. I turned to my partner and said, we could make this a brand.

I didn't know where to begin. Then early one morning the thought of Linamii returned, and this time it would not leave. I woke the people I trust and told them, this is the vision, this is what we build. Within days we had a team: my partner, the friend who gave that first gift, and a former colleague. We were on our way.

I won't take the credit for founding Linamii. It is a God-given vision, built on the foundation of a kingdom business and the South African family values we were raised on, neighbourliness, giving and sharing. And it took a village. Every person who gave feedback, from a poster to the website, helped shape what Linamii is. "It takes a village to raise a child", and there are many ways to belong to ours.

Our name for love has a colour. Our rewards programme, A-moreYellow, carries my daughters' names, Amore and Yellow, because Linamii is, at its heart, about love. Love for our customers, and love for the little ones we serve, from pregnancy through the first twelve months.

We are building Linamii to be a mother's helper: convenient, thoughtful, and there in the moments that matter, whether a mother is too far along to reach the shops, or a friend is searching for the perfect gift for a baby shower. And we are opening our doors wider, inviting township and local vendors of baby products to sell alongside us, so that one shop can carry a family through the beginning.

What we look for

• Products for pregnancy to 12 months only.
• Safe materials and finish, no choking or safety risks.
• Quality that sits comfortably beside our own range.
• A real, contactable business, registered via KasiKonnect.
• For anything a baby eats, wears against the skin, or is bathed with: proof of safety. We give preference to products reviewed or approved by a registered dietitian or a relevant health and safety professional.

Baby food & consumables: what the law requires

South Africa regulates baby food tightly. If you want to sell any food, formula, purée or supplement for babies, you must comply before we can list you. This is a summary, not legal advice, and you remain responsible for full compliance.

• Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act 54 of 1972 — the main law governing all food sold in South Africa.
• Regulation R638 of 2018 (hygiene requirements for food premises and the transport of food) — you need a valid Certificate of Acceptability from your local municipality for the premises where food is made or packed.
• Regulation R991 of 2012 (foodstuffs for infants and young children) — governs composition, labelling and, importantly, heavily restricts the advertising and promotion of infant foods and formula. Because Linamii promotes what it sells, some infant foods may not be marketable on our platform. We will assess this per product.
• Regulation R146 of 2010 (labelling and advertising of foodstuffs) — labelling rules, including the restriction on words like "healthy".
• A product review or sign-off from a registered dietitian (HPCSA registered) is strongly preferred for any baby food.

Your 7 day cooling-off right

Under section 44 of ECTA, you may cancel an online order and return the goods within 7 days of receiving them, for any reason, for a full refund of the price paid. You pay the cost of returning the item. Some goods are excluded, see below.

Our voluntary 30 day returns

On top of your legal rights, we accept returns of unused items in their original, sealed packaging for up to 30 days from delivery.

Items that cannot be returned

For hygiene reasons, feeding items can only be returned if the original seal is unbroken. Hand-made crochet items made to order are excluded from the no-fault cooling-off right, as they are made specifically for you. They can still be returned if faulty or incorrect.

Faulty or incorrect items

Under section 56 of the CPA, all goods carry an implied warranty of quality for 6 months from delivery. If an item is faulty, not as described, or unsuitable for its intended purpose, you may return it for a repair, replacement or refund. We pay the return cost in these cases.

Refunds

Cooling-off refunds are paid within 15 days of us receiving your cancellation. Other approved refunds are paid within 10 working days of us receiving the item, to your original payment method.

Dispatch

In-stock orders are dispatched from our Randburg base within 1 to 2 working days. Hand-made crochet items are made to order; the timeframe is shown on each product page.

Delivery timeframes

Main centres: 2 to 4 working days after dispatch. Outlying areas: 3 to 5 working days. These are courier estimates. If delivery will exceed 30 days, we will contact you and offer a full refund.

Delivery cost

Delivery is a flat R120 nationwide. Orders of R800 or more qualify for free delivery.

Tracking

You receive a tracking link by email and WhatsApp when your parcel is collected. If tracking has not updated in 48 hours, contact us on +27 71 868 0129.

Collection

By arrangement from 372 Surrey Avenue, Ferndale, Randburg, Gauteng, 2194.

Risk

Risk passes to you on delivery. Please check your parcel on arrival and report any damage within 48 hours.

What we collect

Information you give us: name, delivery address, email, phone and order details. We do not see or store your card details; these are handled by our secure payment provider. We also collect basic device and usage data through cookies.

Why we collect it

To process and deliver your orders, communicate about your orders, run the A-moreYellow rewards programme, meet our legal duties and, only with your consent, send you marketing.

Who we share it with

Only those who help fulfil your order: our payment gateway (Peach Payments), our delivery partner (Bob Go) and our e-commerce platform. We do not sell your personal information.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to processing or withdraw marketing consent at any time. Email info@linamii.co.za. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Security & cookies

We take reasonable steps to protect your information and keep it only as long as needed. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies via the banner on our site.

Orders

A sale is concluded when we accept your order and payment is confirmed. Before you pay, you can review your full order and correct errors, as required by section 22 of ECTA. We may decline or cancel an order if an item is unavailable or a pricing error occurs, in which case we refund you in full.

Prices & payment

Prices are in South African Rand and include VAT where applicable. Payment is processed securely by Peach Payments. We never handle or store your card details.

Products

We describe our products as accurately as we can. Hand-made crochet items vary slightly piece to piece; this is a feature of hand-made goods, not a defect. Colours may differ slightly from your screen.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including the CPA implied warranty of quality. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. You may also approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud.
